Hip Hop News!!!!!!! No Comments

X-Ecutioners member and legendary turntablist Grand Master Roc Raida died this morning representatives of the DJ confirmed with AllHipHop.com.

“The legendary Grand Master Roc Raida has passed away this morning,” a representative for the DJ told AllHipHop.com. “Family and friends will miss him dearly. Please give the family their privacy.”

The source refused to give details of his illness or injury, or even the cause of Roc Raida’s death, but did state that previous reports of an injury during karate class or a car accident were inaccurate.

The rep confirmed that Roc Raida was hospitalized last week, but would only state that the DJ’s death was totally “unexpected.”

Grand Master Roc Raida started DJ’ing at the age of 10, after being inspired by his father, who was a member of Sugar Hill Records group, Mean Machine.
Roc Raida was an original member of the X-Men turntable crew, who later became The X-Ecutioners, a DJ collective that helped innovate the art form of turntablism.

He became internationally known, after taking home the DMC World DJ Championship in 1995.

Grand Master Roc Raida released 12 albums total as a solo artist and as member of The X-Ecutioners.

Roc Raida, born Anthony Williams, also produced tracks, crafting song or worked with artists like Smif-N-Wessun, Fat Joe, Ghostface, Black Thought, Pink, Linkin Park and others.

His scratching can also be heard on O.C.’s timeless Hip-Hop track “Time’s Up.” Additionally, Grand Master Roc Raida served as Busta Rhymes’ official tour DJ.

Rhymes expressed his condolences today, via his Twitter page, after Roc Raida’s death became a trending topic on the popular micro-blogging site.

Jordan 60+ "Detroit Pistons"

During the Fall season Jordan Brand will release an NBA inspired pack of their new Sixty Plus (60 +) model. This black/royal blue colorway reps the Detroit Pistons. Other teams include Boston Celtics, Cleveland Cavaliers, and the Atlanta Hawks. Speaking of the Pistons, the Air Jordan 6 that we leaked last week is also a Detroit Pistons inspired colorway. We were suppose to keep that info on the low, but we made a minor boo-boo, so now the cat is out of the bag. Back to the Jordan 60+ NBA Pack, look for the releases to drop sometime this Fall.

Air Jordan VII Fusion (AJF8) "Aqua"

We told you Jordan Brand had plans to release the Air Jordan 8 Fusion a while back, and the first image has surfaced. As they say, seeing is believing. Here’s the Air Jordan 8 Fusion in everyone’s favorite Air Jordan 8 colorway, Aqua. It’s actually kinda hard to hate on the AJF8 seeing that they look just like the Aqua Air Jordan 8, but with an Air Force 1 sole. Although these may not be your cup of tea, we know the fusion heads are going to eat them up when they hit retail. via Sneakerfiles

This Air Jordan 8 Fusion is set to hit Jordan Brand accounts March 2010 for $140. The official colorway is black, varsity purple and aquatone.

Air Jordan XII (12) White/Red Retro

Here’s the pictures you’ve all been beasting waiting for, the white/red Air Jordan 12 retro. We broke the news about the return of the white/red AJ12 as well as the Flu Game AJ12, and now we’ll let the pics speak for themselves. Unlike the ‘09 bred 12’s, looks as if Jordan Brand stayed true to the original make-up of the white/red Air Jordan 12. With that said, there isn’t much for Jordan heads to complain about.

Feel free to rejoice or rant in the comments section.
