Twenty-three people were arrested at the Lil’ Wayne concert last night including a 16-year-old from Cheektowaga, charged with trespassing for allegedly jumping a fence to get into the concert venue, nine people busted on marijuana charges, a ten year-old busted on possession of alcohol, a 23 year-old charged with hitting a female fan and injuring a security guard, a 26 year-old arrested for disorderly conduct and swearing in public and other arrests including criminal mischief and destruction of property.
50 Cent’s Community Event Deaded By The Po-Po’s
50 Cent had a community event that was supposed to go down tomorrow but as usual the po-po’s stuck their noses in the shit and decided to pull the plug on it for fear of violence. Okay so this ain’t really news but rather another incident of the law cock-blockin’ every time a rapper wants to do some good in the hood.
A planned community event featuring rapper 50 Cent was canceled in its entirety out of fears of violence the rap star’s manager has confirmed.
50 Cent had planned to perform and host the event tomorrow (August 30) at PS 40 in Jamaica, Queens but nixed the event.
According to 50 Cent’s manager and Violator CEO Chris Lighty the event may still take place at a later, unconfirmed date. “We are postponing it and working it out with police,” Lighty said.
Today (August 29), 50 Cent will play a safe gig at Six Flags Great Adventures in Northern New Jersey.
The rapper, along with Vitamin Water, is busing hundreds of children from his old Queens neighborhood to the theme park to attend a fundraising performance for his G-Unity Foundation.
“I am constantly searching for ways to give back to the community that helped create me and contributed to my success,” 50 said about today‘s trip. “I can think of no better way to do this than to help improve the lives of the young people that reside there through programs created by my foundation.”
In related news, 50 Cent recently launched a fragrance company named Lighthouse Beauty with a number of partners, including manager Chris Lighty.
Reality TV star Kim Kardashian recently signed with 50’s company to market and promote her own, unnamed fragrance.
“Having worked with some of the top talent in the entertainment industry, I have a unique perspective on capturing the essence of a celebrity in a product,” Lighty told Womens Wear Daily. “We worked closely with top perfumers to infuse Kim’s larger-than-life personality into a fragrance that will really speak to her fans.”

In this upcoming XXL Oct. 09 issue, ya man Jay-Z is makin’ some valid points about why he says he’s number one. A lotta these young rappers need to be ashamed of themselves letting a 40 year old nigga str8 murder them on wax. That shit should be unheard of but ion today’s hip hop it’s not. Honestly I just want good music and I don’t give a fuck about age becuz frankly if a nigga bringin’ dat heat he bringin’ that heat, peeriod. Those who know Air Jordans may be aware of the Jordan V’s origin and design inspiration but for those who are not in the know, we shall put it into “plane” English for you. The Air Jordan 5 (V) was designed by Tinker Hatfield who was inspired by the World War 2 P-40 fighter plane. In this sample we can see more design cues were given to the upper with extra stitching given to the upper to resemble that of an eye seen on the fighter planes. The tag reads that these were set for a spring 2009 release but we have not seen anything as of late for this colorway. For you, is this a Jordan V sample a “disaster” or “remastered” prototype? Looks like Gucci is catchin’ a lil heat behind his lyrics in his home state of Georgia. Some parents in the community of Albany don’t want him to perform becuz they think his lyrics are too hardcore for their kids to be listening to. I feel the parents on this but until we can change our environnments in which we grow up the music ain’t gon’ never change. And trust me Gucci’s lyrics is not the real issue hear, we need some serious re-conditioning to take place in the hoods before w see real change. Hopefully Gucci will still be able to do the show and stack his paper, shit at least the nigga is only rappin’ about the shit.
An outraged citizen writes a letter to City commissioner Bob Langstaff, protesting an act that is to come to the Civic Center at the end of the month. Gucci is set to perform August 29th, but some folks say his lyrics are appalling and inappropriate for teens in the area. City Manager Al Lott says he is working on getting the performance canceled and scheduling a special called meeting of the City Commission in order to adopt guidelines and policies for performers at the civic center. City leaders say the contracts have been signed, and if they tried to stop the concert now, they’d be on the hook for money already paid by the promoter. While they’ll look at the issue for future events at the Civic Center, they say this show must go on. “The ability to control an event internally is always going to be better, we can have our door guards which we would normally have anyway and we can make sure we have security inside and out,” said Wes Smith, Albany Assistant City Manager. Control the event they will, there won’t be alcohol sales for this concert and there will be extra security
We don’t want Air Jordan retro’s to ever hit NikeiD, but the thought alone is pretty cool. Can you think of any colorways you would design off the top of your head?
